New York City native and pro skate legend Chris Keeffe founded and opened DQM skate and clothing shop in New York City’s Bowery District in 2003. It was a quick success and it wasn’t long before he and his pro sponsors at VANS decided to collaborate again.
The idea was to blend 2 distinct lifestyle brands and create a new identity for DQM taking it to the next level setting the stage for expansion to other major US Cities. The GENERAL DQM for VANS was born. A new location in SOHO became the Flagship store from which this brand would blend the best of East and West Coast skate lifestyles. Two years later it was time for the next big move. The GENERAL DQM for VANS Boston.
That’s where we come in.
VANS is headquartered in California and DQM was solidly NYC.
They needed someone who could represent both brands and be fully integrated and invested into bringing this concept to a new city.
Someone who could be on site through the entire process. We dove in and for 4 months Boston’s Newbury Street in Back Bay became home. We worked with the DQM owners and the Director of Environments for Vans on every aspect and managed the entire process from initial site surveys, contractor selection, demolition, design refinement,build-out to final store set and opening. Our success lead to a strong relationship and more projects for VANS.
