Faced with a short deadline before the opening of Candela Gallery, the owner had a problem. Establishing their new publishing company and photography gallery in a renovated building in Richmond Virginia’s newly designated “Arts District”, they needed a reception desk and cash wrap for greeting visitors and consummating retail sales. The renovation of the historic building had taken more money and time than expected which left little of both just days before the opening party and inaugural photography exhibition. Designed and fabricated on site, on time and on budget, the result is a fully functional mobile work station which is the only 3 dimensional piece in a sea of blonde wood floors and crisp white gallery walls.
Form follows function but the focus remains on the reason for the gallery-photography.
